Bingo News: PartyGaming and 888.com may return to US

The companies PartyGaming and 888.com have had their hopes of returning to the US market renewed after news that previous gaming legislation banning online gambling in the US may be overturned.

Online gaming was banned in the US back in 2006. This law had prevented offshore companies from providing online casino, poker and sports betting to US customers. This had meant that companies like PartyGaming and 888.com were forced to abandon hope of establishing themselves in one of the biggest money markets in the world.

Change of heart...

US congress is now hinted that they are entertaining the idea of a reversal of the ruling which would see the offshore companies trading in the US once more.

It was suspected that the u-turn had come about due to the recent US financial recession and the down turn in revenue produced by the ban.

It was anticipated that by reinstating the trade for online bingo providers and allowing US customers to gamble online, the US could receive an increase in $42 billion dollars over 10 years in taxation which would not only boost the Country’s struggling economy but provide thousands of jobs for the sector.

US Congressman Jim McDermott commented:
“We are sending a multimillion industry offshore and underground. As a result, we are making tax criminals of Americans who can’t declare their winnings to the IRS.”
It is the expectation that the re-introduction of online gambling will be staggered with the legislation of online poker the first on the agenda.

Plan of action...

PartyGaming and 888.com are now preparing for the possibility of an exciting return to the US market. PartyGaming are said to be currently in discussion with several US gaming operators in a move to possibly establish supplier deals.

Both companies, as well as many others excluded by the legislation were hopeful that a decision to reverse the Ban was not too far away.
