Openbet company history
Orbis began life in 2006, and was subsequently bought out in 2000 by NDS, who grew the business under David Loveday’s stewardship. During the next decade they acquired a number of other gaming development businesses, and rebranded themselves as the more accessible-sounding Openbet in 2010, before being sold by NDS for £208 million. That price tag, along with an award for being one of the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For cemented their reputation for the foreseeable future.
Openbet’s partners include Paddy Power, Ladbrokes and William Hill so they’re clearly well-thought of by some of the most prestigious players in the UK and Irish sportsbook scene, and they’re also the supplier of choice for a large chunk of the US lottery market.
Bespoke software selection
Unlike some gaming software companies, Openbet are particularly flexible when it comes to game selection: Operators really can choose what they want from the huge selection, rather than being offered a one size fits all installation, and the software also lets operators set up tournaments, community gaming events and other marketing features.
When it comes to promotions, Openbet release quarterly lists of new offers to coincide with key events on the calendar like major sporting tournaments, Christmas and Easter etc.
Arcade and games
Openbet’s catalogue is strong on arcade and fun-style games, so you’ll see dozens of hi-lo games, videopoker, scratchcards, arcade bingo and casino games. Other popular entertainment titles apart from those already mentioned include Blankety Blank, Carry On, Family Fortunes, Legally Blonde, Play Your Cards Right, RoboCop, Stargate, Sale of the Century and The Price is Right – so the appeal of these games to the UK general public needs no explanation.
Openbet games are regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, and their fairness is approved by Technical Systems Testing of Canada, used by gaming operators all over the world.
